Story Spark: Beast of Stratton by Renee Blare (and Giveaway!)

BeastofStratton_eBookHave you ever started something and it took on a life of its own? That’s what happened with this story. My critique group, Rough Diamond Writers decided to write novellas. We decided on a theme…fairy tales. Everyone selected their own and I chose Beauty and the Beast. Why? I love it. I always have.

Do you know the tale? If you don’t know it, research it. You’d be amazed. Beast of Stratton’s inspired by this story. The essence of Bella and the Beast is sprinkled throughout the pages as well as some other details you may recognize.

I’m a seat-of-the-pants writer. In other words, I don’t plot or plan ahead. Instead, I dig in and let the story take me where it leads. The Lord shows Himself so much through this process. Perseverance? Yes, but He also teaches me several lessons within the story itself. Faith, deliverance, hope… They may differ with what I’m writing at the time but I’m always learning.

Now, there were a few surprises along the way as I wrote Beast of Stratton, that’s for sure. When I started, I wasn’t expecting Miles Stratton to be a decorated war veteran. His PTSD and wounds worked their way into his character rather naturally. But I’d have to say the true treasure of the book for me was the short dialogue between Miles and an elderly woman toward the end. I won’t spoil it for you. I promise. You can read it for yourself.

Beast of Stratton’s a mixture of romance and suspense with a strong thread of mystery. Inspired by Beauty and the Beast, you may recognize a few things along the way. Don’t miss it. Available now on Amazon!

About the Book:

He appears the beast but she sees his heart.

Architect Aimee Hart, determined to locate her father, infiltrates Miles Stratton’s engineering firm as a secretary. Her presence wrenches the shaggy, wounded man from his penthouse, and the quest begins.

He’s been betrayed by his best friend. Miles would rather hide than help, especially his daughter. But it isnt over. Someone’s trying to destroy Stratton Industrial. A war veteran, he knows how to defend his own, the Beast of Stratton can do it again.

  1. I really appreciate it very much that you are allowing me to enter this contest. I do hope I win because I really like to read Christian books, they are not distasteful and they are very clean and I think it is great that people can write Christian books. I am in the process of finding the Holy Spirit and I should only read Christian books or the Bible only so that is what I am doing. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

  2. Hi Kelly! The Lord is good! I’m so glad to meet you. And I’m praying for you as we speak and will continue to do so. The Holy Spirit’s my daily Companion and Friend. I pray you get to know Him well. 🙂
As for the Beast? He’s quite the character and I hope you get to know him soon too. 😉 You’re in the drawing!
