wounded warrior's wifeHannah Conway, author of The Wounded Warrior’s Wife, is my special guest today. Please leave a comment to enter the drawing for Hannah’s novel. The winner will be announced this weekend.

What sparked your idea for the story?

I’m an Army Wife. My husband is an Infantry soldier with several deployments under his belt. Struggling alongside him as he dealt with unwanted symptoms of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) & TBI (traumatic brain injury) sparked this story. I felt like we were alone on that journey and God showed me quite the opposite. God prompted me to start writing for anyone else who felt like their world was crumbling and/or felt their marriage was doomed. That’s where I was when God changed things for my husband and me.

What surprised you most as you wrote the story?

How emotional I became at times. I was challenged to dig deeper and explore areas of unforgiveness in my life that needed to be resolved.

What surprising thing did one of your characters do?

Ha! My main character, Whitleigh Cromwell, put laxative in cookies she made for her husband after they separated. I wrote it, and said, “I can’t believe Whitleigh is doing this! I can’t put this in here!” But I had to! Haha. J

Please share with us a treasured moment or treasured tradition.

I have so many wonderful moments in my life that I treasure, not too many traditions…we’re okay with mixing things up with regards to traditions.

I’d have to say right now the most treasured moment that comes to mind is when my husband came home from this last deployment. Our kids were so excited to see him after he’d been away for 9 months—the shortest deployment we’d been through. They waved flags and cheered when the soldiers marched in.

When we found each other he grabbed the kids in his arms and there was this moment where he and I stared at each other…like everything was right in the world. Beautiful.

Battles Raging Within Are The Ones You Must Fight To Win

WHITLEIGH CROMWELL dreamt of a happy life with her newlywed husband. Army Private First Class COLLIER CROMWELL loved God, his wife, and his country, though the military demanded he pay a high cost.

When an unexpected deployment during the height of war sends Collier away for another year, their lives tumble down a path marked with struggle, and fatalities. War weary, and faith crippled, Collier brings home a war of another kind leaving Whitleigh staring at the shattered pieces of their broken marriage.

Are there wounds too deep, and marriages too broken that they’re beyond even God’s ability to restore?
