Exploring Prince Edward Island: West Point Lighthouse

#Write31Days

My sister and I hopped in our rental car then headed south along the picturesque coastal road. Our first stop: The historic West Point Lighthouse. Since the museum and the gift shop were closed for the winter, we didn’t get to see inside.

Instead, I buttoned up my inadequate jeans jacket, vainly wished for mittens, and photographed the lighthouse, the beach, and the sea. I also filled my small camera bag with an assortment of green, gray, black, and mauve rocks that had been polished by the waves into an incredible smoothness.

Here are a couple of my favorite photos. Though autumn in PEI, the flowers are reminiscent of spring. Just lovely. And what stroll on the beach isn’t complete without a crustacean skeleton?

Tomorrow’s photo montage is from our visit to the Bottle Museum–a chapel, six-gabled house, and tavern made from thousands of bottles. Be sure to stop by!

Your Turn

Visiting PEI during the off-season meant we encountered a few closed signs. Do you prefer to vacation during your destination’s bustling tourist season or the quieter off season?

About the Blog:

Favorite Post: 3 Ways to Share Your Faith

Favorite Scripture: Matthew 6:34 (NIV) Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I blog to spread the good news of the Lord.

When I’m not blogging, I’m spending time with my family, writing, or working.

I have a passion for Christ.

I want to be remembered for my love for the Lord!

BeastofStratton_eBookAbout Renee!

Raised in Louisiana and Wyoming, Renee started writing poetry in junior high school and that, as they say, was that. After having her son, a desire to attend pharmacy school sent her small family to Laramie and she’s been counting pills ever since. While writing’s her first love, well, after the Lord and her husband, she also likes to fish and hunt as well as pick away on her classical guitar.

Nestled against the Black Hills with her husband, crazy old dog and ornery cat, she serves the community of northeastern Wyoming as a pharmacist and pens her Christian stories, keeping them interesting with action and intrigue, of course. She loves to interact with readers and invites you check out her website, blog, and social media.

Blog Spotlight: Souls Under Construction

Shirlee Abbott is an internet friend. I’m not sure exactly where we “met,” but I love her home improvement stories. She shared one last month on this blog: Nightmare No More

Today I’m pleased to shine the Blog Spotlight on Shirlee’s blog Souls Under Construction.

cropped-blog-header1I blog M-F. I try to keep it short (less than 100 words), sharing spiritual insights with those who lack either the time or the ability to read more One of our sons reads with difficulty, and I am sympathetic to those who find reading hard work instead of pleasure.

Stories about our home makeover can be found here:

I write and teach Christian life studies for women. Those lessons are posted under Foundation Studies:

The goal of my website is to connect elements of architecture to spiritual growth. Let God restore your soul!

Meetlee 1I blog: partly for the discipline of daily writing something of value, mostly to share insights God reveals to me as I study the Bible and pray.

When I’m not blogging: I’m working in healthcare quality and patient safety. I’m a wife (of a pastor), mother of four grown sons, grandma, Bible teacher and D-I-Y home renovator.

I have a passion for: prayer.

I want to be remembered for: helping others build their own intimate relationships with God.

Meet Shirlee!

Shirlee Abbott is a wife (of a pastor), mother and grandmother. Her day job is in hospital quality and safety. Shirlee’s ministry revolves around prayer, teaching and writing. She and her husband have owned a series of fixer-uppers. Their latest project is a post-and-beam barn from the 1800’s turned into a house in the 1970’s, when every hand-hewn beam was covered with drywall. Their first tool of choice was a crowbar.

Blog Spotlight: Girly Topics, Godly Perspective

I am so delighted to shine the spotlight on the Girly Topics, Godly Perspective blog, especially since I’ve known this blogger since before she was born. Introducing my lovely daughter, Bethany Jett! cropped-WP-header-one-swirl-and-sig-6300-border

I blog on: girly topics, godly perspective at BethanyJett.com.

Most popular posts: 2 Reasons to Wait to Have Sex and How to Create a Custom Planner for Under $7.

bj cinderella ruleMost popular series: The Power of Makeup series where I give tips and tricks on how to enhance our outer beauty to match our amazing inner beauty.

Favorite Scripture: Philippians 2:3-4: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

I blog because: I love to learn and I enjoy passing the information on. When we stop sharing, we stop learning and growing. I also think that it’s the wise people who learn from others — mistakes and successes alike. Helping someone not make a mistake or do something they’ll regret is important to me. So is helping someone pursue a dream or achieve something amazing.

Bethany headshotWhen I’m not blogging: I’m finishing my Bachelor of Arts degree, chasing three little monster-munchkins, experimenting in the kitchen, sneaking moments to read, ignoring laundry, working on future books, and enjoying the home I’ve created with the love of my life.

I have a passion for: coaching and mentoring young women.

Dating doesn’t have to be hard and life doesn’t need to be full of regret. I want to make a difference.

When you subscribe to my blog, you’ll receive a free copy of introduction and first chapter of my dating guide, The Cinderella Rule, on sale for $1.99 for a limited time.

Bethany’s Bio: National speaker Bethany Jett is an award-winning writer, a video contributor for ChristianMingle.com, web editor for Splickety magazine, a featured columnist with Choose NOW Ministries, and has been interviewed on radio stations nationwide and internationally.

Her writing can be found in Gospel Roads magazine, SonomaChristianHome.com, ChristianityToday.com, SpiritLedWoman.com, Crosswalk.com, along with other magazines and sites.

When she’s not writing or speaking, Bethany enjoys cooking, spending time with her husband and sons, coaching cheerleading, and rooting for her favorite football team, the Florida State Seminoles.

The Cinderella Rule is currently $1.99 (Kindle edition).
