My sister and I stayed at a seaside cottage during our recent trip to the west coast of Prince Edward Island. She hoped to find sea glass along the beach so we rolled up our jeans–but didn’t take off our shoes (brr! too cold!)–and headed down the stairs.

Intent on our search among the shells and the stones, polished smooth then deposited by the sea, we did our best to ignore the brisk wind that roiled the waves.

beach-05We gathered rocks of varying shades of greens and pinks, others of streaked white and obsidian black.

My sister was unsuccessful in her quest to find sea glass.

But not me!

No need to feel sorry for my sister, though. A local couple who lived just down the road gave her a jarful of colorful glass they’d found along their beach.

Next on the PEI agenda: breathtaking sunsets.
