Caryl McAdoo has a vibrant personality that shines through our email threads. Please welcome her as she shares the inspiration behind her latest release.

My new July release One and Done is book three in my Red River Romance series. These novels standalone, connected only by River County, Texas. In this fun story, peppered with exciting fantasy baseball, my heroine Samantha Danielle fulfills a dream. She partially sparked writing this contemporary romance.

And baseball, too, in order of fair representation; I do love baseball when my sons and grandsons are playing. I’ve lived so many summers at the city baseball parks—all those practices and all those games…you know the old cliché…if I had a nickel. All our boys were wonderful athletes, and I proved quite the boisterous fan. I was never thrown out of a game, though Blue turned and spoke to me more than once.

But my secret idea behind writing it was to get all those young, male family members—nephews (and brothers) included—to read one of my books! J When my first romance (mature inspirational) came out, I took my son to the airport and had to shed tears to get him to take a copy for reading on the plane. Though he reported being pleasantly surprised, I don’t think he’s read another, but he loves baseball!

In most Christian romance novels, the heroine is the follower of Christ, but in One and Done, it’s my most awesome hero George Herman Walter Johnson. His grandfather named him and didn’t know if he would be a slugger or hurler.

BenNO'PaAbout the Story

One and Done is an unlikely love story born of prophesy, grown in full view of the probing public eye, and seemingly doomed because of the bride-to-be’s heathen condition. The pitcher follows Christ though, but can his faith that she is God’s woman for him carry them through to their happily ever after.

Meet Caryl

caryl-bulldogs-teamgramiCaryl McAdoo currently writes three series: the historical Christian ‘Texas Romance’; a contemporary ‘Red River Romance’; and The Generations, her Biblical fiction. The novelist loves singing new songs the Lord gives her, and she paints. In 2008, she and her high school sweetheart-husband Ron moved from the DFW area—home for fifty-five years—to the woods of Red River County. Caryl counts four children and fourteen grandsugars life’s biggest blessings believing all good things come from God. Praying her story gives God glory, she hopes each one will also minister His love, mercy, and grace to its readers. Caryl and Ron live in Clarksville, the county seat, in the far northeast corner of the Lone Star State.
