Glass artist Marty McGuire is questioning her future in Sandcastle Cove, South Carolina. While she loves the small town, she is certain her career would benefit from living in a bigger city. Marty gives herself a deadline of her upcoming birthday to make a decision between small-town peace and big-city opportunity. Everything rests on the success of her display at the upcoming Artisan Showcase. Sandcastle Cove History Museum director Derek Douglas is fascinated by the old harbormaster’s cottage. When he suggests it could be the perfect spot to display Marty’s art for the showcase, his motives are twofold — this could be the needed incentive to entice volunteers to clean the neglected cottage and he will get to spend time with Marty.
Unfortunately, Derek’s plans are thwarted when the local historical committee bans him from fixing the cottage. Despite the warning from the city, Derek and Marty can’t help but be drawn to the mysterious building. When they find the former harbormaster’s journal, secrets from the Civil War come to light and they are more determined than ever to save the cottage. However, when a vandal destroys Marty’s art, leaving her nothing to display at the Artisan Showcase, she wonders if fate is trying to tell her it’s time to move on from Sandcastle Cove. Can Derek convince her to give the island one more chance?
