One takes place in a mysterious small town that draws people in and somehow persuades them to stay (Road to Happenstance). Others take place in such notable settings as the Grand Canyon, Prince Edward Island, and the Colorado mountains. Two are World War II stories that take place in Europe and the remaining novel is set during Biblical times.

When I browsed through my Kindle and fiction shelves to select the “intriguing setting” novel I wanted to read, I found Yours Truly, Thomas by Rachel Fordham. This book has been on my TBR list since it was released in 2019. (Yes, I’m way behind!)

The story is a historical romance set in Washington, DC. But the geographical location isn’t what drew me to select this novel.

I chose it because the heroine works in a dead letter office at the United States Postal Service.

How intriguing is that?! I’m only a few pages in, and definitely enjoying the story.

Let me know what book you read or are reading this month that has an intriguing setting.

Looking ahead to April ~ What book will you choose because you love the cover?

Introducing April’s Challenge & Suggestions!

2022 Reading Challenge ~ April

With so many attractive, fun, and amazing covers, I found it difficult to choose only four ~ two contemporaries and two historicals.

As you can see, I included one of my own covers but only because I’ve gotten tons and tons of compliments on it over the years. (Thanks to Kristin Bakken, Tyndale’s designer, for her creative talent!)

Where Treasure Hides Receives Maxwell Medal https://johnnie-alexander.com/where-treasure-hides-receives-maxwell-medal/ https://johnnie-alexander.com/where-treasure-hides-receives-maxwell-medal/#comments Tue, 14 Nov 2017 09:00:28 +0000 http://johnnie-alexander.com/?p=3508 I love this photo for lots of reasons.

Reason #1: The first ever Ohio Christian Writers Conference presented their first ever awards . . . and I won!

I’m so honored that Where Treasure Hides received the (giant!) Maxwell Medal for Fiction.

Reason #2: Award-winning, best-selling author Michelle Medlock Adams won in the Children/YA category so we’re in the same photo!

Reason #3: The other two beautiful ladies in this photo are my daughters, Jillian Lancour, founder of She Lives Vintage, and Bethany Jett, co-owner of Serious Writer, Inc.

We got to spend the conference together . . . each one of us teaching workshops . . . and we had a blast!

The OHCWC, sponsored by Serious Writer, Inc., was held November 2nd through 4th in Mason, Ohio. More conferences in more locations are being planned, and we’d love to have you join us at one (or more) of them.

Congrats to all the winners!
