Classic City ~ New York
New York City may not be the typical classical city–after all, it’s not nearly as ancient as Rome or Paris or London.
But it’s beginnings trace back to a 1620s trading post, known as New Amsterdam. That’s almost 400 years ago–surely old enough to count as a classic!
Over the years the city has grown, consolidating its five boroughs into one gigantic metropolis in 1898.
It has the distinction of being the most densely populated city in the U.S. and the most linguistically diverse city in the world.
I’ve visited New York a couple of times and would love to live there–but only for about a month. Just enough time to soak up its energy and see all I want to see without rushing to and fro.
What city would you choose as a “classic”? Do you want to live there?
Twenty-Five Days of #BlogMas
My chosen theme for this series of blogposts is Classic of the Day. I hope you’ll join me in these days leading up to one of our most cherished –and classic–holidays.
Sorry. NYC is lovely, but Prague has to win for my Classic City.
I’ve never been to Prague but I’m sure it’s beautiful. Maybe someday!
