Classic Psalm ~ Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
This psalm, written by King David who was once a shepherd himself, is perhaps the most popular psalm in the Bible.
In fact, it may be the most well-known chapter of all the Biblical books. The lyrical words bring comfort and hope in difficult times.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Twenty-Five Days of #BlogMas
My chosen theme for this series of blog posts is Classic of the Day. I hope you’ll join me in these days leading up to one of our most cherished–and classic–holidays.
The Twenty-third Psalm is one of my favorites, partly because it was written when David was fleeing for his life from his son. Such faith.
Absolutely! (P.S. Glad you’re home and that you had a great trip!)
This Psalm is one I turn to many times when facing difficulties. The words are so reassuring. Having been around sheep, I can see myself as one of them needing care and protection as I repeat this Psalm to myself.
Hi, Pat. I’ve not spent much time around sheep but I raised alpaca for awhile. They are probably easier, though I’m not sure about that. I understand, though, how this psalm really speaks to someone who has had experience with livestock. So glad you stopped by!
Psalm 46 keeps drawing me in, restoring me, and sending me on my way.
I love that psalm, too. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Yes!
