This month’s giveaway is for Collision of Lies by Tom Threadgill who writes “Smart Suspense” inspired by what if questions.
The idea for his latest novel happened when he observed a woman at a restaurant staring at her phone. “What if,” Tom wondered, “she got a phone call from someone she didn’t expect?”
That question led to another. “What if she got a text from her son . . . and he was dead?”

About the Story
Three years ago, a collision between a fast-moving freight train and a school bus full of kids led to devastation and grief on an unimaginable scale. But a fresh clue leads San Antonio police detective Amara Alvarez to the unlikely conclusion that one of the children may still be alive. If she’s correct, everything law enforcement believes about the accident is a lie.
With time running out, Amara must convince others–and herself–that despite all evidence to the contrary, the boy lives. And she will do everything in her power to bring him home.
A fresh voice in suspense, Tom Threadgill will have you questioning everything as you fly through the pages of this enthralling story.

Psalm 46 King James Version (KJV)
46 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Lucy, thanks for sharing that uplifting psalm. One of my faves!
So many things encourage me during these days of forced quiet. My Bible, FB messages by pastors I respect, my church family, knowing and trusting that God will meet all my needs. I’ve started a puzzle for the first time in several years. It’s an activity I enjoy but can’t find time to do in my normal busy life. Thank you for the chance to win a book. It’s on my Goodreads list, too.
Hi, Vickie. Thanks for adding The Mischief Thief to your Goodreads list! Best of luck with your puzzle!
I love your book cover and excerpt. Would love to read the print version so I could review it.
Some tips to get through these uncertain times are: Smile daily, Pray to God daily(usually more than once), Find a Bible verse or verses did look at and read that helps you. One of my favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 40:31 KJ version. Isaiah 40:31 reads: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. If you have Bible cards or a bookmark with a memory verse read that once a day and/or also read devotion booklets. I try to read at least 5 or 6 Devotional Books in the Morning(Devotionals are available online too.)
Also, try to keep your daily routine if you have one. Be kind to everyone.
Hi, Crystal. The print version should be available on launch day–fingers crossed! And I’d appreciate the review. 🙂 I love all your tips and thanks for sharing Isaiah 40:31. Another of my faves!
Please, keep safe!
Blessings,
Teri
Make sure you test positive for Faith. Keep a safe distance from doubt. And isolate unbelief.
Stay safe & be kind Y’all!
Yes, Robin! What great advice!
Hello Johnnie! I’m daily confessing Psalm 91 and taking communion. Some of my favorite worship leaders are doing live worship on their Facebook page.
SHALOM and BLESSINGS!
“Fear nothing , . . not disease that prowls through the darkness . . .” I had to open my app to Psalm 91 and this is a line in the Message version. Thanks for sharing, Caryl. Stay safe!
May your unfailing love come to me, Lord,
your salvation, according to your promise;
My comfort in my suffering is this:
Your promise preserves my life.
Psalm 119:41, 50
Love those verses, Sonnetta. Thanks so much!
Congratulations, Sonnetta! Happy reading.
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. ..” Isaiah 43:1-2 These are my go-to verses for almost everything. I love the premise of Tom’s book!
I love those verses. Thanks for sharing. And yes, to Tom’s premise! He was so fun to talk with–his interview goes live in the morning!
Habakkuk 3:17-19 is one of my favorite passages in difficult times:
17Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.
Another favorite! I was thinking of this passage the other day. So inspiring.
We’ve been spring cleaning. Cathartic to the soul and mind.
I’ve swept up dog hair but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten with spring cleaning so far. Maybe next month. 🙂
The Bible is a story of God’s salvation history. And our lives are a story of God’s salvation history. Just as the people in the Bible had hard experiences, we can expect no less. And the result? A refined life.
You’re absolutely right, Linda. I love that word–“refined.” So rich in meaning.
My daughter and granddaughter were already with us when our state enforced ‘stay-at-home’ so homeschooling has been added to my list of life experience resume. I enjoy creating graphics/memes so I’ve been trying to share God’s Word with social media. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” is one of my favorites.
Stay safe and thanks for your encouraging words.
Hi, Connie. These are strange times but I love the blessings that people are sharing. God is indeed our refuge–always. How tremendous is that promise!
While sheltering at home, I am spending a lot of time online with all the wonderful resources available for “attending” church, prayers, devotions & talks. It’s really amazing how many things are there for us. I also watched the whole season of The Chosen this week and loved it! My mom moved into assisted living 12 days before lockdown which is so hard not being able to see her. She calls me every day and we pray together. That has been a blessing during this difficult time. Thank you so much for the chance to win this book from a new-to-me author!
Hi, Jeanne. My heart goes out to you and your mom. My mother passed away a few years ago, and my sister and I have talked about how difficult it would have been for her if she’d been in the hospital or assisted living at a time like this. Praying for you both! You’re the second person who’ve mentioned The Chosen today. I need to check it out. Thanks for sharing!
I enjoy quilting while listening to Christian radio or audiobooks!
Hi, Connie. That’s a skill I’ve always wanted to learn. Hey, it’s not too late!
I hope everyone is staying safe . I’ve started everyday praying to my savior before I start my day. These intimate little conversations have made lockdown so much easier when I know how close he is throughout my day. God Bless everyone !
Hi, Carol. I love beginning and ending my days with prayer. I love how you wrote “Intimate little conversations.” Amen!!!! Glad you’re here!
Instead of focusing on what you can’t do, focus on what you can do. I am practicing the 3 R’s during the lockdown – reading, relaxing & renovating. Stay safe everyone!
Psalm 91 Thank You and Be Safe Praying and Reading Daily!
