THE STORY
To let go of the past, she must confront it.
When Lane Steen discovers her father kidnapped her years ago, her fractured world shatters. A different world and a new family await to welcome her if she’ll only take the chance.
Will they love her? Or will she trade one hostile home for another? Perhaps the journey will only raise more questions.
Who is her father, really? And what happened to him? Will she ever be able to forgive him so that love can heal her heart?
Valley Creek may be her prison, but perhaps it holds the unexpected. True love, purpose, grace, and redemption.

When I was diagnosed with TNBC I was scared. It shook my whole world. I knew God was going to do something good out of it and I needed to face my fears about dying and this is not the life I planned. God proved that He was working on my behalf by my medical team and others He brought into my life. One of my thought was that Triple Negative Breast Cancer has nothing on God, Jesus and the Holy Spirt. They were the positives I needed.
Praise God for His faithfulness in good times and in the hard times. Thank you for stopping by, Sonnetta!
Wow, Sonnetta. I had no idea you went through that experience. Praise God for being with you and giving you the courage and encouragement you needed. Thanks so much for sharing.
My first husband was abusive & unfaithful, but I took my vows very seriously. After 16 years, he finally left & divorced me. God eventually brought His choice for me into my life. We’ve been happily married for almost 30 years!
I’m sorry you had to go through this, Robin. God never leaves us in those situations. I’m thankful He brought the right person into your life! Blessings!
He has been with me every step of the way. God id good.
Your warm and friendly smile makes me wish we could get together for a soft drink sometime! So thankful that God gave you the man of your dreams. 🙂
Awwww…that’s so sweet Johnnie! Make it a Diet Coke & I’m your girl. 🙂
You’ve got it!
My daughter was in an unhappy and unhealthy marriage but she chose to overlook it and was determined to honor her wedding commitment. I also believe in the sanctity of marriage but I could see her slowly drifting from her beliefs. I prayed for a change in either my son-in-law or her thinking. Finally, after almost 10 years, a situation developed and she was able to see that God didn’t want her in a toxic relationship that pulled her away from serving Him.
I’m glad your daughter is free and able to live a better life close to the Lord. Thank you for coming by, Connie!
Those decisions are so hard, Connie. Your daughter is blessed to have you as her prayer warrior. Thanks for sharing!
God turned the ashes of an 18 year abusive marriage into beauty with a loving caring husband.
That’s such a blessed testimony, Lucy. Thanks for sharing!
That’s a wonderful testimony. I’m glad God turned your situation into good. I’m glad you stopped by, Lucy!
This sounds like an exciting book.
I got epilepsy when I was 13. I still have it. It started out as not feeling normal or fitting in anywhere. And I carried this into adulthood. But one year I went on a women’s retreat with church. The speaker was speaking about the trials we have in life and why God is there to help us through them. Wow a lot of wonderful information and my head was spinning. Later I realized that my mom was trying to tell me the same thing for years. Sorry mom. But God took my condition and I started helping other women who had similar feelings. At first I really didn’t know what I was doing. I was just going out on faith. Soon God showed me that one of my spiritual gifts is shepherding. So I took some classes and learned from other women who were shepherds. I try hard to let God lead me and I try to be his vessel for when ever and who ever.
Lori, thank you so much for sharing your experiences and your growth as a shepherd for other women. What you said about “going out on faith” is so important. When we say yes, God opens even more doors. Yes to being led by God and being His vessel! 🙂
Hi Lori, it’s wonderful that you are allowing the Lord to use you for His glory in helping others. I’m glad you stopped by!
I’m a bullying survivor. In other words, I was bullied from Elementary School to beyond college and even into where I worked. I was looked down upon, told I couldn’t things, thrown out of a class by a Spanish professor and even told I would never make it through college but God turned that out for good because I did eventually make some Christian friends, got 2 college degrees, Met Maya Angelou, started writing short stories, poems and books for fun. God blessed me and favored me more than I could imagined. I’m so thankful for His favor and blessings.
Oh, Crystal. I am so very sorry that you experienced such cruelty though rejoicing with you for the blessings God gave you. Congrats on those degrees! And how fun to have met Maya Angelou. Her story is inspiring. Prayers!
It’s terrible that people can be so cruel. Praise God that you overcame it. He often sends people into our lives to strengthen and encourage us. Thank you for sharing, Crystal!
My first marriage at seventeen ended up in 8 years of spousal abuse. I had three children and stayed at first because of them. Then I realized that God did not want my children and me to have to live like that. I took a leap of faith and left with my children, moving into a battered women’s shelter.
I had no money and all I could do was pray for a way out. I was over 2,000 miles away from home and my family. Within a week my brother-in-law came through with the money for bus tickets. The shelter provided clothing and other items I needed to make the trip. It was a long grueling trip by bus but was welcomed by my mom and dad which made it worthwhile.
A week later I received help from social services and was able to find a job and childcare and was on my way to healing. God does beyond anything we could ever do on our own.
Julie, thank you for sharing your difficult experiences. Your “leap of faith” and courage are inspiring. I’m so glad your family were there for you and your children. Prayers and hugs!
Thank you for sharing your courageous testimony, Julie. You are no doubt an inspiration to your family and friends! I’m glad you came by!
Can’t wait to read this!
Hi, Victoria! So glad you stopped by!
Thank you, Victoria! Many blessings to you!
My childhood best friend’s mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Each week as I drove my Mom to visit my friend’s mom, I knew her Mom didn’t have much time. I did the only thing I could do was to let friend know that she and her siblings would need to prepare for the worst emotionally and financially. She did take out equity out of their home and life insurance policy to provide medical care for her mom. I believe God intervenes by taking her mom so she and her siblings would not be homeless and broke.
Oh, Kai. This is a heartbreaking story. Both you and your mom were surely a blessing to this dear family. Prayers and hugs!
You were indeed a much-needed friend to this family. Thank you for sharing, Kai!
God turned me into trusting another man to enter my life after all the abuse my ex gave me
Danielle, I am so happy that God has blessed you in this way though I’m sorry for what you went through. Thanks for sharing. Hugs!
I’m sorry you had to go through it, Danielle. Thank God that He put the right man into your life. Blessings!
God sent angels to protect me so many times when something bad should have happened to me.
Hi, Theresa. What a blessing that is! I, too, can recall certain instances when I’m sure angels were surrounding me…or my car! Accidents averted. LOL! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, that is so very true, Theresa. Throughout my life, there is many times…known and unknown…that the Lord sent protection. Blessings!
God has taught me that I am not control and that he is and can be trusted in every situation. I had to learn to let go and leave it in his hands during a terrible time our family went through.
Those are such wonderful words of wisdom for all of us, Vivian. I learned it during a troublesome time in my life though sometimes I still need a reminder. Thanks for being here!
Hi Vivian! This is one of the hardest lessons I have had to learn. Sometimes I have to learn it all over again! You are right. God can be trusted in every situation!
