THE STORY
A distressing diagnosis
A retreating husband
A prodigal brother
Marriage counselor Debbie Verhoeven excels at piecing broken families together, so she never imagined her own perfect family could be fractured.
When Debbie learns the child she’s carrying has Down syndrome, she takes the news in stride, but her husband, Jerry, begins suffering debilitating panic attacks that strike at his marriage, family, and faith.
Struggling to hold her family together, Debbie turns to her older brother for support, but he suggests the unthinkable. With no one else to turn to, her once-strong faith begins to crumble.
For the first time in her life, Debbie needs someone to lean on, but who is left to be strong for her?

Poor Debbie! Her faith will get her through.
It sure will, Robin! But not without a bit of angst! This was the first of Brenda’s books I read–very good!
I chose an attainable number of books to read this year, 52 books of my books. If something happens to limit my personal reading time, I can still manage one book a week. If only children’s story books counted, LOL!
Hi, Roxanne. Sounds like you’ve got a great goal. And hey! Nothing says you can’t have a goal of how many children’s books you will read!
I’m going to try reading at least 20 books this year. If I succeed and I am able to read any more than that, I’ll be ecstatic.
Hi, Stephanie. That sounds like a very do-able goal. You can do it!!!!
I’m shooting for 100. We shall see. Blessings
Wow, Lucy! That’s a great goal!! I achieved that goal only once since I started keeping track. Strangely, I ended up reading the same book–one by C.S. Lewis, as both one of the first books in the year and one of the last books in the year. LOL!
Shooting for 25
Hi, Kathy! That’s a great goal–about two books a month. Yay!
My goal is one a week. I’m already falling behind!
You’re not the only one, Brenda. I stuck to 40–the same goal as last year–because I’m also trying to get through a 100 Essential Novels list. Those old classics take forever to read!
The book sounds really good!! I read 222 books in 2020, so I have no idea how many I want to read this year! I’d say at least that many, again! Last year was the first year I ever kept count of how many I’d read!
Wow, Trudy! That’s incredible!! I am very impressed. What were a couple of your favorites? (I’m thinking my novel, The Mischief Thief, might be included in that number–right??!!)
My goal for the year is to read at least 100 books. There are 7 days in a week and I can read anywhere from 2-3 books a week depending on length of book. I already have 2 books completed and 1 started so right on track. I know i can do it.
Would love to read and review book in print format.
Have a great year and good luck reaching all your goals.
Hope I Win.
Hey, Crystal! That’s the most I’ve ever read in a year when I kept track. Actually, I think it was 101, but I realized I read the same book by C.S. Lewis twice–once at the beginning of the year and once at the end. LOL!
I plan to read 90 books.
Hi, Sonetta! That’s a great goal. Hope you’ll include my summer release from Barbour in that total!! (Shameless plug, I know!)
In 2020 I read around 70 books, but I only posted 52 for this year. That’s a book a week. 🙂 However, I’ve already read 4 books…
You’re putting me to shame, Pat! I’m already behind and I only set 40 as a goal. That’s what I managed last year. It’s lower than in years prior to that because I’m reading classics from a 100 Essential Novels list and those can take a long time. I think it took me nine months to read Moby Dick. A book I will never, ever read again! LOL!
I am shooting for 60 books this year. I didn’t want to set the bar too high and take the joy out of it.
That’s a great plan, Perrianne. I’d rather set a lower number and beat it than get to the end of the year and have it become a “have to.” Though your goal is higher than mine–I know you’ll meet it!
I am shooting for at least 10. THank you
That’s a great, doable goal, Candie! You can do it!!!!
My reading challenge is to read 100 books this year. I usually set the goal at 100, but I read 271 books in 2020 due to staying home. I do not think I will read as much this year. Thank you.
That’s tremendous, Judy! Trudy (up above) also read more than 200 books in 2020. You ladies amaze me!!! Do you have any favorites to share?
maybe 50-60
You can do it, Shelia! My goal is less than yours (40), but I hope to break 50. Also, I replied to your email but got a “mail undeliverable” message. Just want you to know I appreciate your support!
I would like to read 45 books this year! Not sure if I’ll manage, but I hope so!!
Hi, Paty! I’m just a tad under you at 40, but I hope to actually make it to 50. We can do it!!!!
I hope to read 25.
Hi, Karen. That’s a great goal! You can do it!
I set my goal at 50 but hoping to read more.
Hi, Julie! I set my goal at 40 but hope to read more!! We can do it!!!!
I am not sure the amount of books I can read, but I know I want to read more than I have been. I love books and have plenty to read. I would be happy with 10 at this point.
My yearly goal is always 100, but I usually end up exceeding that by a few (2020 I read 117).
I’m going for 20 books.
