Are you as amazed as I am that this year is almost half over? For most of these first five months, I’ve been at my laptop to meet multiple writing and editing deadlines. The projects for the rest of the year are more spaced out and I’m enjoying a brief lull.
Regina Rudd Merrick, a delightful friend with a beautiful smile, is giving away an autographed copy of her latest novel, Rebuilding Joy, for our June giveaway. This story is the second in Regina’s popular RenoVations Series. I read the first book and am looking forward to reading this one!
Regina and I met when we both attended the Mid-South Christian Writers Conference a couple of years ago and now we see each other almost every month on Zoom calls with our other Mosaic Collection authors. We live hundreds of miles apart but it’s always such a joy to see her sweet smile!
The Story
A waitress, a contractor, and an FBI agent walk into a café …
Single mom Darcy Emerson Sloan has enough to do raising twins and running a restaurant. She’s doing fine on her own and doesn’t need the complications of a man in her life. But when her café turns into a crime scene, putting her and her children in danger, she begins to take interest in the handsome young FBI agent that comes on the scene.
Contractor Del Reno is as even-keeled as they come, but even he has his limits. And Darcy Sloan has pushed him too far. Every time he tries to help, it backfires. But now that Darcy and her kids are in trouble, he has no choice but to come to her aid and to protect her. She’s just going to have to deal with it.
Secret tunnels, organized crime, adorable children, and a wedding.
Just another day in Clementville.

Well Regina, the word “renovation” conjures up memories of what my Parents and Grandparents always taught me about life, forgiveness, kindness, acceptness of myself and others. I was always taught to do my best, Ask God to forgive me, Forgive myself and accept myself for who I am and accept others for who they no matter what because nobody’s perfect. If I do these things then I can restore and revamp my life to where it should be which brings us full circle around to kindness because kindness, forgiveness and acceptness as well as Peace, Love, Joy, Hope, Fath will help us all restore and revamp our lives.
Always remember that Love is the one constant you need to redo your life somewhat to where you had it.
This book looks and sounds like a great read and would love to read and review it in print format. Love the book cover and excerpt.
Hope I Win
I agree, Crystal! As for real-life renovations, when we did a kitchen and bath renovation a few years ago, I’ll admit I missed “the guys” when they were gone! That’s a good crew! Lol!
Hi, Crystal. I so much appreciate the memories conjured up by “renovation” that you shared. Thank you!
Regina, that’s so cute that you missed “the guys.” LOL!
Thanks for having me, Johnnie! We need to figure out where would be halfway between us!! Looking forward to meeting your readers!
So glad you’re here, Regina! Thanks for your generosity in sharing a copy of your story. I have it on my Kindle and will be reading it soon!
Renovations make me think of starting over, making everything new. I love the idea of bringing new life to something that has seen years of usefulness, but is in need of updates or refurbishing. Thank you for the opportunity. God bless you.
Hi, Debra. That is such a knack and a skill–to bring new life to something used. I think it takes a special person to see beyond the “used” and envision the “new.” Thanks for sharing!
Renovations to me could mean starting over, renewing something old and making it new, making the foundation stronger.
Definitely want to put this one on my to read list.
Hi, Julie. What a great thought–making the foundation stronger. Thanks for sharing that insight!
This is what I think of in this book. Starting over, making it even better!
Renovation conjures up renewing something old such as a house or renewing our mind in Christ. Thank you for sharing. Blessings
Renovations to mean a do over from scratch and rebulding life
Renovation to me is the same me (or you) but shining out the parts that may be obscured by routine or tiredness, being in a comfort zone, not giving the best of you. Renovation is trying to bring the best of us out, which is being what we are but with the light of God shining through our lives and to others!
Thanks for the chance, the book sounds awesome!
Renovations to me means changing something for the better, whether it be a room, a building, a person, or a life.
Renovation makes me think about dust everywhere and an exhausted and often frustrated husband.
YES! Lol!! I would love to just get the renovations in our house DONE, once and for all, but since that’s not happening, we have to have times of respite to rebuild OUR joy! 😘
The continual work on our 1899 Victorian home….renovation is never-ending!!!
You speak truth!! I seriously don’t think we’ll ever be done!!
