About the Stories
The Way of the Brave
Former pararescue jumper Orion Starr is haunted by the memory of a rescue gone wrong. He may be living alone in Alaska now, but the pain of his failure–and his injuries–has followed him there from Afghanistan. He has no desire to join Hamilton Jones’s elite rescue team, but he also can’t shirk his duty when the call comes in to rescue three lost climbers on Denali.
Former CIA profiler and psychiatrist Jenny Calhoun’s yearly extreme challenge with her best friends is her only escape from the guilt that has sunk its claws into her. As a consultant during a top-secret mission to root out the Taliban, she green-lighted an operation that ended in ambush and lives lost. When her cathartic climb on Denali turns deadly, she’ll be forced to trust her life and the lives of her friends to the most dangerous of heroes–the man she nearly killed.
Her skills and his experience are exactly what’s needed to prevent another tragedy–but in order to truly set Orion free from his painful past, Jenny will have to reveal hers. They’ll have to put their wounds behind them to survive, but at what cost?
The Heart of a Hero
Jake Silver may not be able to put the memories of his time as a sniper and Navy SEAL behind him, but at least he can put his skills to use as a part of the Jones Inc. rescue team. Saving the life of pediatric heart surgeon Dr. Aria Sinclair on Denali helped too. Now he can’t get her out of his head, and when he hears she is in the path of a hurricane down in Key West he can’t help but jump on a plane to rescue her.
Aria has dedicated her life to helping children born with defective hearts. After all, she was one of those children. Now driven to succeed, she lives a lonely, stressful life. One she would have lost on Denali if it hadn’t been for Jake. Jake is exciting and handsome, but he’s also dangerous, and she’s already lost one person she loves. She can’t bear it again.
It’s not until she finds herself trapped in the middle of a category 4 hurricane that she can admit she needs Jake desperately. With their very survival in the balance, can they hope for a second chance at life . . . and love?

I absolutely LOVE Susan May Warren’s books. I’ve read almost all of them. I can’t wait to read the newest one!
Hi, Kim! Susie is a fantastic author! I love that she’s created the “epic romantic adventures” genre.
I don’t think I could physically do any of these adventurous things but hiking the Appalachian Trail sounds interesting. My bucket list adventure would be to visit some of our National Parks.
Hi, Merry. I love your bucket list adventure. My mom loved reading about the National Parks and I know she would have loved to visit more of them. I hope you get the chance!
I can’t wait to read either of these 2 books! They both look great!
I can’t swim so the deep-sea fishing wouldn’t be wise and I’m afraid of heights so I would probably get so far and freeze up. I do believe I could hike the Appalachian Trail! Thanks for sharing about Susan’s new book and the chance to win.
Hi, Connie. I just told Robin I doubted I’d ever hike the Appalachian Trail but out of those three options, that’s the one I’d come closest to doing. Perhaps we could hike a teeny-tiny section of it together!
I agree with you, Carrie. I’ve started the first one and it’s a page-turner!
I don’t have one adventurist bone in my body! I’d be one of the folks sitting & reading until the adventurers got back. 🙂
Oh, Robin! You and I can sit and read together. Though I do like to travel, I doubt I’ll ever climb a mountain, go deep-sea diving, or hike the Appalachian trail. I like what I call “quiet adventures.”
I would hike anywhere. I went zip lining in Costa Rica. I probably will not do it again.
I should have added zip-lining as an option! That’s something I truly want to do. And zip-lining in Costa Rica sounds amazing! Can be a little jealous of you? 🙂
I would love to read and review her books in Print format. Look forward to her books.
Although I’m a country girl through and through, going mountain climbing, deep sea diving or hiking the Appalachian Trail just doesn’t appeal plus I wouldn’t be good at it. No, I think I would like to go to explore Ireland, Scotland and England mostly because that’s where my ancestors are from and I’ve always dreamed going to these places any way. If I got to go to these places which are on my “bucket” list and get to explore all beautiful land and places.
I would consider it an honor and privilege to read and review your books in print.
Hi, Crystal. Like you, I’d prefer to travel than do any one of those three options. I lived in England for a short time, about four months, in 1988. How long ago that seems! We were on such a tight budget we didn’t get to do a lot of sightseeing but we did spend an amazing day in London and another day at Stonehenge. We also went to Warwick Castle which was one of my favorite trips.
I’d love to have you join my Johnnie’s A-Team Facebook group if you haven’t already. The members have an opportunity to receive a digital copy of indie-published novels before they’re released. Unfortunately, print copies are too expensive for me to send out to reviewers. Thank you for your interest and for all you do to support inspirational authors. So glad you’re here!
I’d love to try deep-sea diving! I’m a water girl! 🙂
Hey, Caryl! I’ll wait on the boat for you and listen spell-bound to your deep-sea adventures! If you want to go snorkeling though, I can do that!!
I can’t swim and I climb mountains here in WV, therefore I would love to hike the Appalachian Trail. Thank you for the chance.
Hi, Lucy. I’ve driven through WV several times. Such a beautiful state!
I loved the first one and look forward to reading the 2nd!
I’m so glad Revell is giving away both!
I think my dream would be to go scuba diving and/or snorkeling in some tropical place where the water is so blue you can see all the way to the bottom! Of course, I’d have to learn how to first but that’s where a guide would come in handy 🙂
I have somewhat of an adventurous nature. Though I certainly don’t risk take and I’m deathly afraid of heights so mountain climbing would be out for me. Hiking would be fun, being surrounded by God’s beauty in nature would be relaxing. And my husband would be right beside me so that would be extra fun, I think.
Thanks for the giveaway chance Johnnie! I have read and enjoyed many of Susan’s books, but need to catch up on this series.
Hi, Trixi. I’m not a water bug at all but I went snorkeling near the Bahamas ages ago. It’s actually so easy to do and lots of fun. I was amazed at much fun I had. Hiking is the popular choice, it seems.
Climbed a mountain
Margaret, you’re braver than I am! Maybe in my younger days 🙂
hike the Appalachian Trail.
Hi, Shelia! That would be my choice out of the three, but I could only do a teeny-tiny part of it. I love the Blue Ridge/Smoky Mountain region of the country so that’s where I’d go!
I’m more of a swimmer than a hiker, and I’ve always wanted to learn deep-sea diving. That is on my bucket list, along with parasailing!
Linda! That’s so cool that deep-sea diving is on your bucket list! I think I’d like to go parasailing at least once though I know I’d be scared to death! LOL!
I don’t think I have a single adventurous bone in my body. I am a total homebody, so I experience adventure through reading books. An adventure to me would be attempting a complicated, involved craft project or trying to write a novel.
Hi, Roxanne. My daughter and I call those “quiet adventures”! She loves to play with her Happy Planners and stickers and I’ve been on a puzzle kick lately. What kind of craft projects are your favorites?
This series looks awesome!! I love Susie’s books! But I haven’t read these yet! What a wonderful giveaway! Thanks!
Hi, Paty! I’m sure you’ll love these novels. And you’re right–Revell is so great to give away both.
Definitely not deep sea diving! Yikes. Scary thought. But I love traveling to different countries and getting a bit of flavor from different cultures.
I love to travel, too, Cheryl. My sister and I went to Europe a couple of years ago and spent a week traveling by train. So much fun! That was probably my biggest adventure!
I would probably love to hike the Appalachian trail.
I love Susan’s books; can’t wait to read these!
Hi, Julie. If I had to choose one of the three, that would be my choice. Much safer than mountain-climbing or deep sea-diving!
Thank you for this GIVEAWAY! I love Susan May Warren book! And I love yours as well Johnnie!!
Blessings Joy
Aw, Joy!!! Thank you for saying that. You made my day!
I think hiking the Appalachian Trail would be more my speed at my age (72). I have climbed a small mountain and have gone snorkeling (not deep sea) before when I was MUCH younger. Susan’s love of adventure shines through in her books!
Hi, Suzanne. Snorkeling is more my speed, too! I did that several years ago–lots of years ago–and would love to go again. I’ll hike a short portion of the Appalachian Trail if I could. LOL! Totally agree with you about “Susan’s love of adventure” shining through her books.
I’d rather hike the Appalachian Trail–not too adventurous!
Hi, Connie! I think there are several of us who going with that one. Though for me, it’s only going to be a short hike and NOT the entire trail!
I would rather hike the Appalachian Trail.
Hi, Amelia. I think we have enough gals choosing the Appalachian Trail that we could start our own little hike club!
I think I’d like to try deep sea diving, though I may be scared of sharks too much for that to work, so my back up would be hiking an Appalachian Trail
Hi, Megan. I’d be too scared of sharks, too. Plus I’m not much of a swimmer though I went snorkeling once and loved it! Hiking is the most popular choice so far so you’re in great company.
I have been a fan of Susan May Warren for years. Super excited about this new series!
Hi, Sarah. I agree–the series is terrific!
I think I would sit under a nice shade tree and read this amazing book Thank you for the giveaway!
That sounds so picturesque, Sarah. Now I want to go outside with a good book! LOL!!
