My New Year began with an adventure.
I’m in Virginia with family. Specifically that part of Virginia hardest hit by the snowstorm. Our power went out on Monday (the 3rd) so we spent most of the week buried in blankets and sticking close to the fireplace. On Thursday we packed up kids, dogs, laundry, and food for our move to a Marriott.
Now we’re warm, rested, and clean!
I hope your New Year didn’t start out so adventurous but I am praying for God’s blessings upon you.
Thanks for stopping by as we kick off another year of giveaways with Where Hope Starts, the first in Angela D. Meyer‘s Applewood Hill Series.
Angela, who lives in Nebraska, writes fiction that showcases God’s ability to redeem and restore the brokenness in our lives. She enjoys sunrises and sunsets, the ocean when she gets a chance to visit, and hopes to ride in a hot air balloon someday.
The Story
In a city full of dreams, Karen Marino’s life is a nightmare.
The New York City restaurant manager is a professional success, but her marriage is in shambles. When her husband, Barry, shows up drunk at her restaurant, she loses both her marriage and her career. She flees The Big Apple and returns to her Midwestern home to sort through her options. Instead of answers, she finds an old boyfriend ready to rekindle romance, a family full of secrets, and an angry brother bent on revenge.
Back in New York, Barry fights his own demons. He knows he messed up but is powerless to stop his rage and addictions. A fight lands him in jail and forces him to face the possibility of serious time behind bars.
As Karen searches for answers to her inner turmoil, she uncovers a family secret that threatens to tear them all apart. Can she find her way back to the place Where Hope Starts?

I am hoping to maybe go to the Smokies this year
Oh, I’m jealous! I love the Smokies. My mom and I “road-tripped” on the Blue Ridge a couple of times. Such sweet memories.
no plans
None at all?! I bet a few will pop up as the months go by. 🙂
Beginning a community Bible Study, continue to teach Zoom classes at seminaries over seas, train our two new puppies! Thanks for the chance to win!
Oh, wow! I love all of those plans. Tell me more about those puppies!
Since I became a full time caregiver unexpectedly since April 22, 2021, I hoping to go on a vacation, stress less and spend more time with God this.
Hi, Crystal. I was an almost-full-time caregiver for my mom so I understand the challenges. I’m praying you also get the care and rest you need. God is with you!
Thanks for a great giveaway! I don’t really have any plans for the year so far other than all the normal things of daily life and maybe some visits to family.
Hi, Laura. Sometimes that’s the best way to live! I planned to go home earlier this week, but I’m still here in Virginia with no definite departure date. Enjoying the days with my daughter and her family while missing my Oklahoma kids and grandkids. Wishing you the best!
My plan is to get my home organized so that it is easy to clean and maintain. Then I can catch up on my TBR pile and do some crafts that I’ve wanted to create for the past couple of years.
Do you think it’s ever possible to catch up on the TBR pile?! Mine grows and grows! I also have a few crafts I want to do, plus organize photos. I hope the year will be THE year! Congrats on winning the Let’s Chat giveaway!
I am hoping to spend time with my daughter when she returns to the states after being stationed overseas for three years.
Oh, Julie! What a sweet reunion that will be! Please thank your daughter for her service and thank you, too. God bless you both!
Glad you are safe. The adventures are fun for a little while and make great stories for the grandkids but good when they end. Thanks for the giveaway. I am hoping to make the trips to Florida and Indiana that were cancelled when this pandemic started.
Hi, Sally! I’m still here and not sure yet when I’m going home. We are having fun, and I’m also writing and catching up on my to-do list. I sure hope you are able to make those trips. You may know that I lived most of my adult life in Florida. I love the state and miss it! Especially in the winter. LOL!
Going SOMEWHERE! It may just be a camping trip on the Southern Oregon coast (Brookings)…
Now that sounds like an adventure! Hope you get to make that trip, Connie!
We hope to go camping some.
Did you see Connie’s comment? She wants to camp in Oregon. Where do you hope to go, Lucy?
