As I wrote the book I was surprised how the “muse” did show up most of the time once I began writing. I would get up earlier than usual in the morning allowing extra time to write. Perhaps it was being a little sleepy that opened up the creative juices or just a blessing from God to get the project done.
My second surprise came when I received my author copies. I had no idea the cover and the binding would be so rich and beautiful. Many people have commented that besides a devotional, it is like a gift book too.
What unexpected insight did you gain while writing your book?
I learned the value of the old saying for writers – Butt In Chair. I had to intentionally write every day to meet my deadline. As far as the material went, writing about Advent really did prepare my heart for this season. I finished the book with a sense of space in my life and heart for Christ to come, a feeling of hospitality for others, and a priceless wonder once again of the story of Jesus’ birth.
