Christmas is the time for giving and winter is the time for curling up with a good story–a contemporary romance or a classic movie. Here’s your opportunity to win one of two fun prize packages.
Shelby and AJ quote lines from Cary Grant movies to each other. One of their favorites is An Affair to Remember with Deborah Kerr. But as Shelby says, you can’t watch this classic without watching Sleepless in Seattle, too.
This giveaway includes an autographed copy of Where She Belongs, the first novel in the Misty Willow Series, and DVD copies of An Affair to Remember (25th Anniversary Edition) plus Sleepless in Seattle (10th Anniversary Edition).
Dani doesn’t want Brett to know she was secretly photographing him. So when they unexpectedly meet, she says her name is Regina Lampert–the name of Audrey Hepburn’s character in the Cary Grant classic Charade.
This giveaway includes an autographed copy of When Love Arrives, the second novel in the Misty Willow Series, and a DVD copy of Charade.
Thanks for entering!
Note: Two winners will be selected in a random drawing. Contest is only open to those with U.S. mailing addresses.
I love that nod to Charade! And I love this story!
It’s one of my favorites but my favoritest favorite is Notorious. Unfortunately, I can’t find a copy of it. I have it back-ordered on Amazon 🙂
The only fiction to film adaptations I can come up with is either all the J.R.R. Tolken books to movie or all the Narnia ones. I love all of them 🙂
Thanks for the very generous giveaway Johnnie!
Hi, Trixi! Thanks so much for participating. Those are a few of my favorite adaptations, too, especially LOTR.
My favorite film adaptation of a work of fiction is “Gone With the Wind”.
You and my younger daughter would be best friends. We saw Gone with the Wind on the big screen several years ago. It was magical. Thanks for stopping by!
Definitely The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (2005).
I’ve got that one in my Netflix queue. And I love the soundtrack! Thanks for participating!
Cary Grant is my all-time favorite actor! I read When Love Arrives and knew within 5 minutes that I was going to like your books. I need to catch up and read Where She Belongs now.
Oh! I love your comment! Thanks so much. What’s your favorite Cary Grant movie? As I replied to Patricia Bradley (above), Notorious is my all-time favorite but I couldn’t get a copy of that DVD for the giveaway.
I loved Notorious. I loved how he came in to get her. It is so interesting to think of women spies in that time
I’ve read a lot about the women spies–fascinating stories and some of them are tragic. I think one of the books is called Carve Her Name with Pride and there’s an old movie adaptation based on this woman’s life.
Another bit of trivia, though I don’t remember the details exactly–when Notorious was released in Germany, they changed the plot to avoid the Nazi connection.
My absolute favorite fiction to film adaptation is the 1995 Pride and Prejudice mini series! It’s amazing! 😀
Yes! My daughters and I have watched this one so often (and we don’t like any of the others)! We often quote from it–one of our favorites is “I must have my share of the conversation.” That’s usually when one of us knows the other two are talking and we don’t want to be left out.
LOTR is definitely a favorite fiction to film!
One of mine, too! We used to have LOTR marathons which were so much fun. Especially when someone brought lembas bread. LOL!
My husband and I enjoying a LOTR marathon right now, so that is probably coloring my judgment but LOTR!
With the extended versions, right?! It’s definitely one of the best. Thanks for stopping by!
I loved the Chronicles of Narnia film adaptions. They were wonderful. (:
I have the first one in my Netflix queue but I’m really wanting to see Prince Caspian. I think it’s my favorite. Good to see you here!
This isn’t necessarily my favorite, but it’s one I recently saw, Wild. I read the book after I saw the movie. I liked the book!
I saw a Facebook note that you mentioned a nonfiction instead of a fiction book. But that’s okay! 🙂 I heard positive things about that movie and heard an interview with the author on a PBS radio program a few years ago. Sounded intriguing. Thanks!
I know it’s already been mentioned, but I love the Lord of the Rings movies. We watch them every year!
We used to have annual marathons but then people — including me — moved away and the tradition ended. I’d like to see them again. Thanks for coming by!
My favorite movies. What a prize😄😄
I hope I win.
Yay to meeting another Cary Grant fan!!!!! Thanks for participating in the giveaway!
Lord of the Rings and Count of Monte Cristo
I read Count of Monte Cristo about thirty years ago. I love the adaptation starring Jim Caviezel but decades ago I loved the Richard Chamberlain adaptation, too.
And of course, LOTR! That’s a huge favorite.
I don’t usually compare books to movies–something is bound to not measure up. For example, I loved the movie Julie & Julia, but the book was HORRIBLE! Full of the f word. Parts of the movie were based on “My Life in France” by Julia Childs, which was awesome. PS: I don’t tweet.
Hi, JJ. I saw the movie but didn’t read that book. And it’s okay that you don’t tweet. Thanks for stopping by and participating!
Chronicles of Narnia and LOTR.
Hi, Caryl! How great to “see” you again. I watched The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on Netflix a week or so ago. And my son and I watched the LOTR movies just before Christmas. So good!
Do TV shows count?? I’m thinking of “Little House on the Prairie”.
Thanks for the wonderful giveaway opportunity!!
Of course, they do! I loved LHOTP. I visited the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Mansfield, Missouri in October. Here’s a link to a couple of the blog posts–with photos–I wrote about that trip. So much fun! http://johnnie-alexander.com/category/random-travel/
Some of my favorites are Little Women, The Hobbit, Ella Enchanted, and The Time Traveler’s Wife.
Hi, Stephanie. What’s your favorite Little Women adaptation? I didn’t know Ella Enchanted was a book. How fun!
Gone With The Wind is my favorite adaptation! Love the old classic movies, particularly Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart pictures.
Hi, Cathy. One of my daughters adores GWTW. We got to see it in a theater several years ago. Cary Grant is my fave but I like Jimmy Stewart, too, especially in Rear Window with Grace Kelly. I don’t like Vertigo, though! 🙂
I loved Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Little Women, and actually The Stand (the older tv version) was very much like the book and loved it.
Hi, Tracy. I have to confess that I like the Johnny Depp version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory more than the other one. Which Little Women version is your favorite?
You stumped me with The Stand. I’ll have to look that up–both the TV version and the book. Is that a Stephen King story?
I am so loving the first two books in the Misty Willow series. Can’t wait for #3 to come out. I’ll be watching for future titles that you will be writing.
Thank you, Jan! The third book, What Hope Remembers, comes out on May 2nd. Then I’m writing a couple of cozy mysteries for Annie’s Fiction. So glad you stopped by!
