My Collection
A long time ago, when I was a small girl, I was given a little black kitten. I dubbed her Rosie because I’d just learned about African black roses. My little girl world wasn’t easy. In fact, it was really rough with a mentally ill mom and other family issues. That little kitten became my companion for eighteen years. I learned to soothe myself when I was sad or upset by playing with my kitten and training her. Cats are awesome pets who keep our blood pressure down and provide tons of entertainment.
Over the years I’ve found or been given several little cat statues. Some were worth a little bit of money like my Lladro/Nao ceramic figurines. But after about twenty-five years, I sold a few to finance a conference. My daughter noticed a few missing. It gave me the perfect opportunity to teach that though I loved my little collection, my dreams were worth much more than things. I’ve never regretted the decision.
I loved writing Jesus Kitty into Snowflake Tiara because it gave me the perfect place to put a little girl and a little kitty that helped her get through her rough times.

Angela, thanks for sharing about your collection. Dreams ARE worth more than things, but sometimes (often times) it’s hard to give up the things we love. May God richly fulfill your dreams. Wishing you the best.
I have a large collection of bookmarks. For me, they are a relatively inexpensive way to gather images and quotations I love. Just never really found a good way to display them.
Angie, I collect angels–they remind me of some of the company I’ll be in when I’m home with Jesus and that He puts them around us. I had a cat, too, that I loved and my cat helped me get through some rough times. I’m so sorry you had to cope with a mentally ill mother. Praying for you as you cope with the loss of your father. Hugs!
Carrie, thanks for sharing about your collection and your beloved cat. Pets provide such unconditional love and acceptance. My master’s thesis was on the bond between people and dogs. The research is amazing.
How many angels make a collection? Somehow I now have three, all gifts, so I guess I have a serendipitous angel collection. (smile!)
