NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.
The contests conducted at Johnnie-Alexander.com and via Johnnie Alexander’s newsletter are sponsored by Johnnie Alexander, Author (“Sponsor”). These contests are governed by these official rules (“Official Rules”). By participating in the contest, each entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, and understands that the results of the contest, as determined by Sponsor and its agents, are final in all respects.
The contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Twitter, or other social media platforms. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the promotion will be directed to the Author via email: johnnie@johnnie-alexander.com.
ELIGIBILITY
The Contest is open to legal residents of their respective countries where not prohibited by law, who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry who have internet access and a valid e-mail account prior to the beginning of the Contest Period. Sponsor has the right to verify the eligibility of each entrant.
CONTEST PERIODS
Monthly novel giveaways posted on Johnnie-Alexander.com or NovelistsUnwind.com begin and end as stated on the Rafflecopter widget. All entries must be received on or before the time stated during that period. Sponsor reserves the right to extend or shorten the contest at her sole discretion. [The NovelistsUnwind website is no longer active effective January 4, 2020.]
Let’s Chat giveaways are announced in Johnnie Alexander’s email newsletter. The contest period begins when the newsletter is emailed to subscribers and ends at midnight on the last day of that month.
The contest periods of any miscellaneous contests will be clearly stated on the announcement.
HOW TO ENTER
Enter the monthly novel giveaway using the Rafflecopter widget included in the post announcing the giveaway.
Enter the Let’s Chat giveaway by 1) being a subscriber to Johnnie Alexander’s newsletter and 2) replying to the newsletter email at johnnie@johnnie-alexander.com before midnight (U.S. Central Time) on the last day of the month for that specific newsletter.
Enter miscellaneous contests by following the directions on the announcement.
WINNER SELECTION
The winner(s) of the monthly novel giveaway will be chosen by random by Rafflecopter. Winner(s) must have a U.S. mailing address UNLESS otherwise indicated.
The winner(s) will be notified via email before the last day of the month. The name(s) of the winner(s) will also appear on the Rafflecopter widget (posted on the first Saturday of the month) after the name(s) are chosen. The winner(s) must respond with their mailing address (for print copies) or email address (for ebooks) by midnight (U.S. Central Time) on the last day of the same month or the prize is forfeited. (For example: The winner of a March contest must respond by midnight (U.S. Central Time) on March 31st.
All eligible entries for the Let’s Chat giveaway will be entered into the random name generator at https://miniwebtool.com/random-name-picker. This site selects the name(s) of the winner(s). The winner(s) will be notified via email on or before the following month’s newsletter is distributed and will also be announced in that newsletter. The winner(s) must respond by midnight (U.S. Central Time) on the last day of the month the announcement is made, or the prize is forfeited.
To clarify: In March’s newsletter, a Let’s Chat giveaway is announced. Entrants, who are newsletter subscribers, must respond before midnight (U.S. Central Time) on March 31st to be eligible for the prize. Winner(s) will be notified via email and name(s) announced in the April newsletter. Winner(s) have until midnight (U.S. Central Time) on April 30th to respond or the prize is forfeited.
The winner of any miscellaneous contests will be selected from the eligible entries via Rafflecopter, the Random Name Picker mini-webtool, or as indicated in the contest announcement. Notification and deadline information will also be included in the announcement.
Each entrant for any contest is responsible for monitoring his/her e-mail account for prize notification and receipt or other communications related to this sweepstakes.
If the prize is returned as undeliverable, that potential prize winner shall forfeit the prize. Upon the request of the Sponsor, the potential winner may be required to return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release and Prize Acceptance Form and IRS W-9 form. If a potential winner fails to comply with these official rules, that potential winner will be disqualified.
PRIZES
The monthly novel giveaway is for “my print copy” of the specified novel OR a print copy of the novel provided by the author–which may or may not be autographed at the author’s discretion–OR an ebook edition of the novel provided by the author. The specific details regarding the novel will be included in the contest announcement. “My print copy” means that the novel may have been read, however, it is in new or like new condition.
The Let’s Chat giveaway prizes are announced in the newsletter and may be gift cards, books, or miscellaneous items. The value of the prize will be announced in the newsletter.
Terms and conditions may apply. Incidental expenses and all other costs and expenses which are not specifically listed as part of a prize in these Official Rules and which may be associated with the award, acceptance, receipt and use of all or any portion of the awarded prize are solely the responsibility of the respective prize winner.
ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF ANY PRIZE IS SOLELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.
ADDITIONAL LIMITATIONS
Prize is non-transferable. No substitution or cash equivalent of prizes is permitted.
These guidelines are retroactive for all monthly novel giveaways announced on the Novelists Unwind website (NovelistsUnwind.com) and for all Let’s Chat giveaways announced in Author’s monthly newsletters.
All time references are to U.S. Central Time.
Sponsor and its respective parent, affiliate and subsidiary companies, agents, and representatives are not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the offer or administration of the Sweepstakes, including, but not limited to, errors in any printing or posting or these Official Rules, the selection and announcement of any winner, or the distribution of any prize. Any attempt to damage the content or operation of this Sweepstakes is unlawful and subject to possible legal action by Sponsor.
Sponsor reserves the right to terminate, suspend or amend the Sweepstakes, without notice, and for any reason, including, without limitation, if Sponsor determines that the Sweepstakes cannot be conducted as planned or should a virus, bug, tampering or unauthorized intervention, technical failure or other cause beyond Sponsor’s control corrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper play of the Sweepstakes. In the event any tampering or unauthorized intervention may have occurred, Sponsor reserves the right to void suspect entries at issue.
Sponsor and its respective parent, affiliate and subsidiary companies, agents, and representatives, and any telephone network or service providers, are not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunction, lost or delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, line failure or malfunction of any telephone network, computer equipment or software, the inability to access any website or online service or any other error, human or otherwise.
INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
By entering the sweepstakes, each entrant agrees to indemnify, release and hold harmless Sponsor and its parent, affiliate, and subsidiary companies, the Facebook platform, administrator, advertising and promotional agencies, and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents from any liability, damages, losses or injury resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from that entrant’s participation in the giveaway and the acceptance, use or misuse or any prize that may be won.
Sponsor and its parent, affiliate and subsidiary companies do not make any warranties, express or implied, as to the condition, fitness or merchantability of the prize. Sponsor and its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, and all their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents disclaim any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from access to or the download of information or materials connected with the contest.
PUBLICITY
By participating, each entrant grants Sponsor permission to use his/her name, likeness and/or comments for publicity purposes without payment of additional consideration except where prohibited by law.
